Service Description

Students will learn strategies for drawing a lifelike portrait using graphite and chalk on toned paper. Exercises in the first two weeks will introduce the principles of value, shape design, measurement, light logic, and basic anatomy to produce the likeness of a sitter. In the final three sessions of class students will synthesize those concepts in the production of a single long-pose portrait, emphasizing a logical procedure based on analytical observation and sensitive handling.
