Figure Drawing with Mike Garcia
Figure Drawing in Charcoal and Chalk
Service Description
In this five-week class, students will practice an observational approach to figure drawing using the uniquely luminous medium of charcoal and chalk on toned paper. In the first three weeks students will practice values, pacing, proportions, and the block-in via short pose exercises. Equipped with a skillset and logical procedure cultivated in the preceding three weeks, the final two sessions will see the students produce long pose drawings of the nude figure. Some drawing experience is recommended, but critiques will be tailored to the individual student’s level. All levels are welcome.
